As in previous years I am looking for your assistance to select a suitable photofgraph for the front cover of our annual bird report.

Again I have had a good response to my request for photographs with almost ninety photographs received from around twenty people. Last year in total we used twelve photos including some to illustrate articles like the bird ringing.  While I am still waiting on the bird ringing photos,( I know I will be getting these) I have given you a wee flavour of what I have received ranging from the common garden to the typical Arran birds through to the unuusual.

In my view the main contenders for the front cover are in the first two rows.  After a couple of years with small birds on the front, I think that it is time to get a "big bird" and my recommendation would be the Hen Harrier flying ( first row, second from left). An iconic Arran bird and an excellent photograph.
